FAQ
As I spoke with friends, students and even some colleagues, I realized how many people leave high school or college feeling unprepared for everyday responsibilities. Simple but essential topics—filing taxes, building credit, budgeting, choosing health insurance, or figuring out what life looks like after graduation—often aren’t covered in a meaningful way in school. Because it’s so important to know why you’re writing and who you’re trying to help. I set out to create a book that serves as a practical guide for young adults and anyone who wants a refresher on “real‑life 101.”
Drawing on my own experiences and the lessons I wish someone had shared with me earlier, the book breaks down complex subjects like taxes and credit scores into straightforward, conversational chapters. It also touches on the emotional side of adulthood—finding your first apartment, adjusting to life after graduation, and navigating new freedoms and responsibilities. My goal was to provide clear, actionable information that empowers readers to make informed decisions and avoid common pitfalls. In short, I wrote this book to be the resource I wish I’d had when I was stepping into adulthood.
Yes. The stories and scenarios in this book are anchored in real experiences. I wanted the lessons to feel honest and relatable, so I drew from my own childhood, from raising my children, and even from watching my grandchildren grow up. Many of the chapters—whether they deal with paying taxes, moving into your first apartment, choosing a major after graduation, or building a credit history—reflect situations my family and I have faced or seen others go through. Writers naturally pull from their interactions with friends and family, using those relationships as inspiration for characters and situations.
The book offers a broad look at life skills, life lessons, and life’s journey. A wealth of information will be gained from its contents to help youths become better equipped to make life altering decisions fueled by the power of knowledge.
The clarity in the books will allow adults to engage in conversation with young people. The interesting and informative topics will prepare them for life’s journey.
I’m excited to keep the conversation going beyond the pages of the book. Over the coming months I’ll be hosting in‑person book signings, sitting down for podcast interviews, and participating in other events where we can talk about the themes of the book and answer your questions. The schedule will evolve throughout the year, so I encourage you to check the Events section of my website and follow me on social media for the latest dates. You’ll always find current links to event listings, podcasts and ways to get involved. If you prefer email updates, join my newsletter — I’ll send reminders when new events are announced.
